Murud-Janjira Fort is situated on an oval-shaped rock off the Arabian Sea coast near the port city of Murud, 165 km (103 mi) south of Mumbai. Janjira is considered one of the strongest marine forts in India. The fort is approached by sailboats from Rajapuri jetty.

The main gate of the fort faces Rajapuri on the shore and can be seen only when one is about 40 feet (12 m) away from it. It has a small postern gate towards the open sea for escape
Birla Ganesh Temple is 20 Kms. away from Alibag is a small village named ‘ Salav ‘ on the Alibag – Roha route. Birla Ganesh Temple has marble floors and the hall of the temple is open from all sides. The ceiling of the temple is transparent which allows free flow of air and ample light to come in. On entering the temple there is a square-shaped nave. The nave is also made of marble and is very beautifully carved. The beautifully carved idol of ‘Ganapati’ is placed in the nave. The idols of ‘Riddhi and Siddhi’ are placed on both sides of the idol. Around the nave are small temples of ‘Radha-Krishna’, ‘Shiv-Parvati’, ‘Bhavanidevi’ and ‘Suryadeva’. In the garden next to the temple there is a statue of “Late Aditya Birla”. Around the statue is a beautifully gardened landscape along with colored water fountains. The pleasant climate adds to the beauty of the temple. From the temple hilltop the glimpse of the green hilltops surrounding the temple and the lighted Vikram Ispat company on the other side which is a beautiful sight late in the evening. The popularity of this temple has not only in Maharashtra but in and around India also.

Despite the attempts of all these foreign powers, he remained undefeated until his death. This Samadhi of Kanhoji Angre is a seemingly withering dilapidated fort but is still a tourist magnet. It is an eight faced structure with beautiful ethereal carvings on its pillars.
Kanhoji Angre Samadhi is a beautiful tourist Attraction in Alibaug. It was built in memory of the great Maratha Admiral Kanhoji Angre. The samadhi has eight faces and the sculptured pillars, which have been dilapidated, however stand firm. Built on a black basalt platform, and having partly eroded, the main Chhatri reflects the elegance of the Maratha style architecture.
MOREKolaba Fort is a 300 yrs old marine fort, a star attraction at Alibaug was built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and is tucked 2 km into the sea. Massive fortification efforts were undertaken by the guerrilla warfare master and the fort shared the reputation of being one of his main naval stations. The fort allows access for a visit by wading thru the seawater during a low tide, however, one needs to take a boat during the high tide. With the waters rising during a high tide it seems to have been located on an island.
Kolaba fort has several temples inside and the gate has the shrines of the fort deity and several other Gods like Mahishasur and Padmavati. The fort also has another natural marvel which is a well with sweet water. The well has a Ganpathi temple called the Sidhdhivanayak temple located in front of it. The entrance to the fort is adorned with beautiful carvings of animals and birds like the tiger, elephant, and peacocks.
MOREAlibaug beach has the blackest sand and has a bustling local crowd in the evenings thronging the food stalls lining the seaside. Kolaba Fort is right on the beach and is a major attraction. During low tide, one can walk to the Kolaba fort, but be mindful of the high tide or else you can get stranded on the fort. Water sports are available on the beach, one can indulge in a banana boat ride, horse or camel rides, etc.
The Alibaug bus stand is about 1.2km from here and one can easily find autos for hire.
